A complaint has been made against Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Kalyan Banerjee at a police station in the nation’s capital, one day after he was spotted imitating Vice President Jagdeep Dhankar on the grounds of Parliament.
During the opposition’s Tuesday demonstration against the suspension of MPs on the steps of Parliament, Banerjee mockingly imitated Dhankhar, earning harsh criticism from the governing BJP. The complaint was sent to the city’s Defense Colony Police station by a lawyer by the name of Abhishek Gautam, according to South Delhi’s Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
The DCP stated that while he was informed that the New Delhi police station was responsible for handling the case, the attorney persisted, and as a result, we got his complaint.
In his lawsuit, Gautam said the film was created with the “intention to insult and defame the Vice President of India, his caste, as well as his background as a lawyer and farmer,” according to news agency PTI.
He insisted that the TMC MP and other people visible in the video be the subject of a formal complaint filed under the relevant sections of the Information and Technology Act (IT Act) and the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
As the TMC MP, in the role of Dhankhar, performed an enhanced skit depicting the Parliamentary procedure plagued by several adjournments, a whirlwind of storm clouds broke forth. Rahul, a Congress MP, recorded the MP’s performance as his colleagues laughed.
