Autorickshaw Driver Faces Charges in Cousins’ Alleged Murder

In the Raigad region of Maharashtra, an autorickshaw driver is accused of killing his 32-year-old cousin after the latter continued to demand money from him while intoxicated, according to police on Saturday.

The culprit, 42-year-old Bharat Pandurang Patil, was taken into custody hours after the event, which happened on Friday morning in Chikhale village near Panvel, according to the statement.

“The victim, Anand Dhanaji Patil, waylaid the accused as he was operating his autorickshaw. He was drunk when he asked the accused for money so that he might purchase alcohol. The accused, furious at his demand, attacked the victim with a chopper and killed him instantly, according to a police station officer in Panvel, Taluka.

He claimed a long-standing disagreement between the two cousins about a certain matter. The source stated that the victim’s body was sent to a government-run hospital for a post-mortem. The accused was also taken into custody the night after a case under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) Section 302 (murder) was filed.
