In a shocking incident, a software engineer from Chennai was brutally murdered by her classmate from school on the eve of her birthday.
The name of the victim was R Nandhini (26 yrs) and she was killed by Vetrimaran, an MBA graduate. Now there is a twist in the story as Vetrimaran was a woman earlier and was known as Pandi Murugeshwari. Nandhini and Murugeshwari were classmates in a girls school in Madurai and they were close friends.
Pandi Murugeshwari went through sex-change process in a private hospital and became Vetrimaran in order to get married to Nandhini despite the fact that Nandhini had made clear to him that they have no future together.
On Saturday, Vetrimaran called Nandhini and asked her to spend some time with him. They both met and Vetrimaran gifted Nandhini new clothes and also took her to an orphanage where he made some donations. Vetrimaran insisted on dropping Nandhini home and stopped at the deserted place Ponmar where he asked Nandhini to click some photos. Later on, Vetrimaran took out chains kept in his bike and tied Nandhini saying that it was for fun purpose. However, when Nandhini asked him to open her many times, he refused, slit her neck and arms with a blade and set her on fire after pouring petrol.
Vetrimaran fled from the location, later on, when people saw Nandhini struggling, they called police and before going unconscious, she gave people Vetrimaran’s phone number.
Vetrimaran was called by police and he told them that Nandhini is his friend and he accompanied them in taking Nandhini to hospital. On Saturday, Nandhini took her last breath after which Vetrimaran went missing.
Police acted promptly and arrested Vetrimaran and he revealed that he was angry because Nandhini refused to be in a relationship with him and now she was having feelings for someone at office. A police official stated that Vetrimaran had no remorse for what he had done and currently he is in judicial custody.
