Mahesh Panchal, the younger brother of cow vigilante Bittu Bajrangi, passed away on Monday during his treatment for burn injuries at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS). Panchal was critically burned when he was admitted to the hospital on December 14 of last year and had been fighting for his life for the past few days. Mahesh had claimed that he was set on fire by a group of men in Faridabad.

The leader of the Goarakshak Bajrang Force, Bajrangi, said that some miscreants had attacked his brother and that he had provided the police with the identity of one suspect, Arman. According to Bajrangi, the event was connected to the violence that occurred in Nuh, Haryana, last year.

In addition, he had vowed to handle the situation himself if the offenders weren’t held accountable. ACP Aman Yadav, the leader of the Faridabad Police’s special investigation team looking into the event, said that he was unaware of Panchal’s passing. Bittu Bajrangi was taken into custody for assault and rioting in relation to the July communal unrest in Nuh. Provocative films were allegedly released by Bajrangi and his assistant Monu Manesar with the intention of inciting communal strife in Nuh. Right now, Bajrangi is free on bond.
