At the Ram Temple in Ayodhya, the idol of Ram Lalla, which represents Lord Ram as a five-year-old boy, is decked out in an extravagant array of jewelry that befits his heavenly status. For the deity’s jewelry, at least 15 kg of gold and 18,000 diamonds and emeralds were employed.
Using sacred writings as their direction and inspiration—including the Adhyatma Ramayana, Srimad Valmiki Ramayana, Shri Ramcharitmanas, and the Aalavandar Stotra dedicated artisans painstakingly sculpted each piece, bringing out the scripture-based beauty of Lord Ram as told in these respected texts.
14 USED PIECES OF JEWELLERY
The exquisite jewelry, which was finished in just 12 days, has 14 items in total: a tilak, a crown, four necklaces, a waistline, two pairs of anklets, a Vijay Mala, and two rings.
Harsahaymal Shyamlal Jewelers in Lucknow was entrusted with the task of preparing jewelry for Ram Lalla. The jeweler was called approximately fifteen days ago by the Ram Mandir Trust.
CROWN
Being the focal point of the ensemble, the crown was crafted with remarkable attention to detail. It has an appearance similar to a five-year-old boy’s turban, implying the young age of Lord Ram. The Ram Mandir Trust specifically asked for the crown to be appropriate for a youngster of this age.
With 75-carat diamonds, 175-carat Zambian emeralds, and 262-carat rubies, the 22-carat gold crown alone weighs over 1.7 kg. In addition to showing off the Lord Surya emblem, which represents Lord Ram’s Suryavanshi ancestry, it is set with diamonds, which stand for purity.
RING OF TILAK AND EMERALD
The tilak, or divine marking on the forehead, is fashioned from 16 grams of gold and features three-carat diamonds in the center and ten-carat diamonds on either side, following the crown. Its beauty is further enhanced by the Burmese ruby utilized in it.
The set is finished with a 65-gram emerald ring. The ring, which has 33-carat emeralds, four-carat diamonds, and a central Zambian emerald, represents Lord Ram’s knowledge and his peaceful coexistence with the natural world during his time spent living in the forest.
All combined, these finely crafted and carefully thought-out pieces bring Lord Ram’s exquisite beauty to life.
