The same Civil Code bill was introduced in the state legislation on Tuesday. It proposes identical regulations for marriage, divorce, land, property, and inheritance for all people of Uttarakhand, regardless of their faith. News18 has obtained the complete text of the 182-page UCC draft law.
Upon introducing the measure in the House, Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami carried an authentic copy of the Constitution into the chamber. The purpose of calling the state legislature into session was to enact the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) bill.

Speaking about the Uniform Civil Code, which was presented in the state legislature today, former Uttarakhand chief minister and seasoned BJP politician Tirath Rawat predicted that the draft will receive strong support and quickly become a law.
Speaking to CNN-News18, Rawat described the decision as one that is in the best interests of the country, claiming that the Muslim organisations opposed to the UC are speaking a foreign language and should only seek asylum in such nations.
“After considering the worries and viewpoints of various groups and sectors, the UCC law was prepared. Before the measure was drafted, Muslim organisations and individuals were also consulted; those who are against it at this time are just motivated by politics.
