Skoda Plans to Rival Nexon EV with Affordable Electric Cars in India

Skoda is planning for the future, which involves producing reasonably priced electric cars (EVs) in India, as well as transitioning to electrification. It is obvious that localization is essential for success in the Indian market. Skoda intends to produce reasonably priced electric cars with export potential for the Indian market. The car’s dimensions and cost are yet unknown, although it is anticipated to be less than Rs 20 lakh and resemble the Kushaq.

Skoda has two options: it either choose a front-wheel-drive chassis or adapt its worldwide MEB architecture for our market. In this case, Mahindra is involved since it has an existing contract to obtain MEB components for its INGLO electric platform.

It’s unclear if the previously mentioned EV would be built on the Kushaq platform, but it’s possible that it would be a smaller, sub-4-meter SUV that’s likewise intended for the Indian market. It is anticipated that this new, reasonably priced EV would reach India in the next two to three years, albeit a specific date is not yet known. We might anticipate that the subcompact SUV’s ICE version will debut first and be placed beneath the Kushaq in the meantime.
