Ayurveda Expert Evaluates Orange Juice vs Green Tea

While some individuals choose to have orange juice with their breakfast, many people prefer to start their day with green tea. As per Ayurveda expert which is more beneficial for you.

The morning is the best time to work on your well-being and start your day off right. The first meal you consume, or breakfast, has a significant impact on how well you absorb nutrients, feel full, and control your weight. The body needs a balanced diet rich in protein, fibre, complex carbohydrates, and other vital micronutrients to function properly. Some people choose to have fruit juice with their breakfast, while many prefer to start their day with green tea.

In an interview, Ayurveda specialist discusses the advantages and drawbacks of each of these beverages for general health. The simplest way to avoid a blood sugar surge when drinking orange juice in the morning, according to Jangda, is to mix it with a handful of almonds. But one should resist the urge to eat it with dairy products or usual breakfast foods. The Ayurveda specialist cautions against using it if you have skin conditions or difficulties with acidity.

Orange juice: a instant of nutrients

“Orange juice is high in potassium, folate, and vitamin C. It contributes to an energy boost and is a strong source of antioxidants. Orange juice is a terrific way to start the day since it helps avoid kidney stones, remove toxins from the lower intestine, and reduce inflammation. It is also a fantastic help for cardiac health. ‘Heal your gut, mind and emotions’, an Ayurvedic researcher, adds that it also helps in clearing the body’s channels, purifying blood vessels, and cleansing the gastrointestinal system.

Fructose, which makes up 52 to 54 percent of the sugar in orange juice, is abundant in this sweet substance. A sugar spike is typically caused by fructose, which is 1.2–1.8 times sweeter than sugar.

To avoid the glucose rise, it is advisable to match orange juices with a small handful of nuts. Although nuts and fruits belong to the same food group, Ayurveda advises against eating fruit on their own or in moderation since fruits react with all dairy products and produce metabolic waste that stays undigested in the intestine. Nuts take longer to digest, are rich in minerals, and have protein as well.

Orange juice assimilation, absorption, and digestion will all be slowed down when paired with it. In order to avoid sugar spikes, you can also add a small amount of cinnamon and black pepper, which are anti-inflammatory ingredients. Additionally, cinnamon lowers blood sugar and is excellent for diabetics,” adds Jangda.

Who is the right person to drink orange juice and who is not?

“If you engage in physical activity and participate in sports, orange juice can serve as a hydrating beverage.” On the other hand, you should stay away from citrus fruits if you suffer from acidity or burning feeling, skin conditions, blood disorders, or pitta diseases. Alternatively, you might have a bowl of oranges as a snack in the early evening, the Ayurveda specialist advises.

Orange juice may increase pitta imbalances (overheating the body) in pitta body types, but it is beneficial for vata (ectomorph) body types, the speaker continues.

Is green tea a good way to start the day?

Green tea is regarded by Dr. Jangda as one of the best sources of antioxidants and polyphenols. So, is green tea a good way to start the day?

“Green tea contains caffeine, but it’s also thought to help with weight loss, type 2 diabetes, and liver problems. Green tea should only be used after meals and caffeine should be avoided while you’re empty-handed, advises the Ayurvedic specialist.

Alternative to green tea for morning

“The antioxidant called the catechism found in green tea helps break down extra fat and speeds up metabolism. To help with digestion, Ayurveda offers a wide range of various herbal and spice teas prepared from cardamom, cumin, fennel, coriander, and carrom seeds. To speed up metabolism, one can also simmer heated spices like cinnamon, clove, ginger, pepper, and star anise in water with lemon grass and cardamom, the author continues.

In short, orange juice should be had in the morning along with dry fruits to avoid sugar spikes, whereas green tea would be better for you after meals.
