With cricket set to return to the Olympics at the Los Angeles Games in 2028, Indian cricket icons Rohit Sharma & Virat Kohli have been urged to extend their careers and aim for a historic gold medal. The call for their participation comes despite both players nearing the twilight of their playing days, having already retired from T20Is last year following India’s World Cup victory.

While their recent performances in Test cricket, particularly during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy, have drawn criticism, the duo now has an opportunity to add another ICC trophy to their illustrious careers. India has reached the final of the ongoing Champions Trophy, where they will take on New Zealand in Dubai on Sunday.

Former India cricketer S Sreesanth is among those who believe that Rohit & Kohli should not walk away from the game just yet. He strongly advocated for their inclusion in India’s squad for the LA Olympics, emphasizing the impact their presence could have. “Everybody’s talking about Virat and you know Rohit might be retiring. Please let them keep playing. We are going to win the Olympics because there is nothing like an Olympian Virat and Olympian Rohit winning the gold medal for the country,” Sreesanth told India Today.

As discussions about their future continue, fans remain hopeful that the legendary duo might don the Indian jersey at the Olympics, giving cricket another memorable chapter on the global stage.
