The iconic crime series CID reboots its legacy, introducing Parth Samthaan as ACP Ayushmann after the emotional farewell of ACP Pradyuman.
A new era has dawned for CID, the legendary Indian crime series that captivated audiences for decades. As the show redefines itself for a fresh generation, it does so with a bold change — television favorite Parth Samthaan steps in to fill the shoes of the late ACP Pradyuman, a role immortalized by Shivaji Satam.
The transition comes after a dramatic twist in the storyline, where Pradyuman’s character is killed by Barbosa, portrayed by Tigmanshu Dhulia, the menacing head of the Eye Gang. This paves the way for the introduction of ACP Ayushmann, the new lead, brought to life by Parth Samthaan.
Parth, who has previously made his mark in both television and digital series, admitted he didn’t immediately embrace the opportunity. In an interview with HT, he revealed, “Initially, I rejected the role of ACP Pradyuman, because I don’t relate to it. But the makers asked me to reconsider. I was also hesitant due to the show’s long-standing cast and the fact that they’d have to address me as ‘sir’ on screen. It felt a bit unusual and awkward.”
Despite initial reservations and facing some backlash on social media from fans attached to the original character, Parth chose to view the experience through a more optimistic lens. “I was waiting for the right opportunity to make my comeback on TV. I was offered a few scripts, but they were all similar, romantic roles. When this show was offered to me, I decided to take on the challenge,” he said.
With a new character at the helm and a loyal fanbase watching closely, CID ventures forward, honoring its past while carving out a new future — one that Parth Samthaan now leads as ACP Ayushmann.
