Singer Rahul Vaidya, who previously ignited a social media storm by referring to Virat Kohli as a “joker,” has now become a vocal supporter of Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB), confidently predicting their victory in the IPL 2025. Following RCB’s dominant win against Punjab Kings in Qualifier 1, which secured their place in the finals, Rahul expressed his strong belief in the team and lauded Kohli’s leadership.
While interacting with paparazzi alongside his wife Disha Parmar and their daughter, Rahul shared his optimistic outlook for RCB. “This time, the final is going to be really tough… because RCB has never won the cup, so there’s this heartfelt feeling that RCB will win this time… and you already know how Virat is… Love RCB… I think RCB will win the cup,” he stated with conviction. Despite his Mumbai roots, Rahul also offered his prediction for the eliminator match between Mumbai Indians and Gujarat Titans, saying, “I think Mumbai will be in the final… Mumbai is Mumbai, after all,” indicating his continued support for his home city’s team as well.
This significant shift in Rahul’s stance comes after he publicly announced that Virat Kohli had unblocked him on Instagram. Expressing his gratitude for the gesture, Rahul shared an update, writing, “Thank you @virat.kohli for unblocking me… you are one of the best batsman cricket has ever seen, and Aap India ka garv ho! Jai Hind.”
The earlier controversy arose when Rahul reacted to a social media post featuring Avneet Kaur that Kohli had liked, leading Rahul to believe he had been blocked. As the situation gained traction online, Kohli clarified the incident, suggesting it was likely due to a technical error. “There was absolutely no intent behind it. I request that no unnecessary assumptions be made,” Kohli had explained. Responding to this clarification with a touch of sarcasm, Rahul had commented, “Aaj ke baad aisa ho sakta hai ki algorithm bohot saare photos like karde jo maine nahi kare. So jo bhi ladki ho, please don’t do PR around it because it is not my mistake. It is Instagram’s mistake, okay?” Now, with the past seemingly behind them, Rahul’s full support is firmly with RCB as they head into the IPL 2025 final.
