Aamir Khan is preparing for what he calls one of the most significant films of his career — Sitaare Zameen Par, a spiritual successor to the beloved Taare Zameen Par from 2007. Inspired by the 2018 Spanish film Champions, this upcoming project is scheduled for theatrical release on June 20, 2025. As fans await the return of Aamir in a leading role, questions have surfaced about how the film would be distributed, particularly in an era dominated by OTT platforms.

Recent speculation suggested that the film might bypass streaming giants and instead follow an unconventional release strategy through YouTube’s pay-per-view model. But Aamir has now decisively dismissed such claims. In a podcast appearance, he addressed the rumors directly and said, “Maine bohot saari theories padhi hain, alag-alag proposals aaye hain film ko release karne ke liye, par main sabko side mein rakh raha hoon, aur main sirf ek cheez pe dhyan de raha hoon — theatrical.”

Aamir Khan confirmed that Sitaare Zameen Par will be released exclusively in cinemas. “Sitaare Zameen Par jo aayegi, sirf theatre mein aayegi,” he asserted, ruling out any possibility of a release on Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+ Hotstar, or any other OTT service.

He also voiced concern over the shrinking window between theatrical and digital releases, saying, “Ek time tha jab OTT 6 mahine baad aata tha, ab woh kuch hafte baad aa raha hai — mujhe woh suit nahi hota.” While he appreciates the role of streaming services, he firmly believes this film belongs on the big screen. “Mujhe OTT se koi takleef nahi hai — agar main koi content OTT ke liye banaunga, toh direct OTT pe leke aaunga,” he added, making it clear that he turned down all OTT offers for this project.

For Aamir, the theatrical release isn’t just about distribution—it’s a commitment to the collective cinematic experience. “Theatre ka agar business khatam hoga, phir aage socha jaayega kya karna hai,” he said, underscoring his belief in reviving the magic of movie-going.

This is a bold move, isn’t it?
