Sometimes, big transformations don’t begin with big plans. In Aamir Khan’s case, it started with a simple effort to feel better. As the actor gears up for the release of his upcoming film Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos, where he appears in a special role alongside producing the project, he has revealed a personal health journey that has caught everyone’s attention.
Aamir recently shared that he lost nearly 18 kilos over a period of time, not because he wanted to slim down, but because he was trying to manage recurring migraines. At 60, the actor decided to change the way he eats to support his health. The weight loss, he says, came naturally as a side effect of those changes.
The shift happened after he adopted an anti-inflammatory style of eating. The main goal was to reduce discomfort and improve daily well-being, not transform his appearance. Over time, the new diet helped ease his migraines significantly, and along with that came unexpected but welcome physical changes. The experience reminded him that the body often responds positively when it’s cared for gently rather than pushed aggressively.
This isn’t the first time Aamir’s physical transformation has made headlines. His dramatic weight fluctuations for Dangal are still widely remembered, when he first gained weight for the role and later lost a large amount to portray a younger version of the character. But this recent change feels different. It wasn’t driven by a script or a deadline, but by a desire to feel healthier.
An anti-inflammatory diet generally focuses on foods that support the body and reduce internal stress. Fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grains, nuts, seeds, and healthy fats are commonly favoured, while heavily processed foods and excess sugar are usually avoided. Though Aamir hasn’t gone into the specifics of his meals, his experience suggests that even small, consistent changes can lead to noticeable improvements.
The actor has also reflected on his past approach to fitness, admitting that he once pushed himself too hard with intense and long workout sessions. With time, he’s realised that good health comes from balance rather than extremes. Rest, sensible exercise, and mindful eating now take priority over long hours at the gym.
As Happy Patel: Khatarnak Jasoos arrives in theatres, Aamir Khan’s story serves as a reminder that health journeys don’t always look dramatic at the start. Sometimes, focusing on feeling better is what leads to the most surprising transformations.
