Alia Bhatt just gave fans the clearest production signal yet on Love and War. Speaking from Milan Fashion Week, the actor revealed filming is nearly complete — a significant update for a film that has already missed two release windows and left audiences guessing about when it will actually arrive in theatres.
Alia Speaks From Milan About Love and War
Alia was in Milan as a Gucci brand ambassador, attending the label’s Fashion Week show for the second time in six months. In a behind-the-scenes video shared with Vogue Italia on her Instagram, she opened up about the shoot while getting ready for the event.
“I am working on a movie currently called Love and War. It is a film directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali. We are at the tail end of filming,” she said. She described the experience as “quite magical” and called working with Bhansali “a once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
What Makes This Update Matter
That phrase — tail end of filming — carries more weight than it might seem. Love and War was originally set to release on Christmas 2025. It then moved to March 20, 2026. Most recently, reports suggested a further delay into 2027, though HT has learnt the film remains committed to a 2026 release despite having no confirmed date.
Ranbir Kapoor, who stars alongside Alia and Vicky Kaushal, acknowledged the postponement himself during an Instagram Live last month. However, he stopped short of naming a new date. Alia’s Milan update, therefore, is the first concrete sign that principal photography is winding down.
Alia and Bhansali — A Proven Partnership
This is not their first time together. Alia last worked with Bhansali on Gangubai Kathiawadi in 2022, a film that earned her the National Award for Best Actress. That performance is widely regarded as a career-defining turn, so her evident emotion when discussing their current collaboration makes sense.
Notably, she did not simply say she enjoyed working with him. She said she is “so grateful” to get to do it again — a small but telling distinction that suggests this shoot has been personally significant for her.
Where Love and War Stands Now
Love and War brings together Alia Bhatt, Ranbir Kapoor, and Vicky Kaushal under Bhansali’s direction — a combination of star power and creative pedigree that has sustained enormous anticipation despite the delays. Alia’s last theatrical release was Jigra in 2024.
With filming now reportedly in its final stretch, the focus will quickly shift to post-production and, eventually, a confirmed release announcement. Until then, the 2026 commitment remains the working timeline — though the industry has heard that before.
