No Orchard Needed! Rent A Mango Tree And Enjoy A Season’s Harvest At Home

For many Indians, summer means one thing – mangoes. From juicy Alphonsos to fragrant Banganapallis, the season brings excitement like no other. But now, enjoying mangoes is no longer just about buying them from the market. You can actually have your “own” mango tree and that too, without ever visiting a farm.

A startup based in Kochi has introduced a creative concept called “Rent A Tree.” The idea is simple yet fascinating. Instead of purchasing mangoes one by one, customers can lease an entire tree for the season and receive all the fruit it produces.

The process is easy. Users go online, browse through available trees in different orchards, and choose one to rent. The cost starts at around ₹10,300 per season. In return, customers get the full harvest from that tree, which can go up to 90 kilograms of mangoes.

These orchards are spread across major mango-growing regions like Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, and Kerala. Farmers take care of everything—from growing the fruit to harvesting it. Once the mangoes ripen naturally, they are packed and delivered straight to the customer’s home.

What makes this idea special is the emotional connection it creates. People enjoy the feeling of having a tree that is “theirs,” even if it’s far away. Many customers share their excitement online, talking about how unusual and fun it feels to say they own a mango tree while living in a city apartment.

Beyond the novelty, the concept also has practical benefits. It connects urban buyers directly with farmers, ensuring fresh, naturally grown produce. At the same time, farmers get a more stable source of income without worrying too much about market price changes.

This trend also reflects a growing shift in how people think about food. More consumers today want to know where their fruits and vegetables come from. They value freshness, transparency, and a closer connection to nature.

By renting a tree, customers don’t just get mangoes, they get a story. They know exactly where their fruit is grown, and sometimes even follow updates from the orchard. For many, it turns into a fun and meaningful experience.

And in a country where mangoes are almost an emotion, being able to say “these came from my tree” might just be the sweetest part of summer.
