Aakash Chopra Is Unhappy With Indian T20I Squad, Raises These Questions

The BCCI has announced the Indian squad for the 3-match T20 series against Afghanistan which is set to start from 11 January 2024 and the first match will be played at Mohali.

Well, the majority of the Indian cricket fans and former cricketers are in support of the decision of bringing back Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli in the T20 squad as it gives experience to the team and how we can forget that they both performed pretty well in the ODI WC 2023.

However, the former Indian cricketer Aakash Chopra has raised questions on the absence of Shreyas Iyer and Ishan Kishan. While Shreyas Iyer was appointed as the vice-captain in the 5-match T20 series against Australia, he was a part of the squad which played against South Africa but now he is not in the squad which will play against Afghanistan.

Aakash Chopra also asked about Ishan Kishan’s availability and talked about the irregular pattern of selection as Dubey was a part of the squad which played against Australia but he was dropped for the South Africa tour and now he is once again back in the team.

Aakash Chopra tweeted, “Iyer was nominated as the Vice-Captain for the 5-match T20i series vs Australia. Was a part of the squad against SA too. Now, finds no place in the team vs Afghanistan. Dubey was in the squad vs Aus at home. Wasn’t picked for SA. Back in the team vs AFG. Also, where is Ishan Kishen? Any news on his availability?”

As far as Ishan Kishan is concerned, he opted out of the South Africa tour citing mental fatigue but do you have any idea about Shreyas Iyer’s absence?
