Salman Khan’s rise to stardom is well known, but his carefree younger days remain fond memories for his close friends. In a recent interview, actor Aasif Sheikh, an old friend and co-star, recounted a humorous incident involving Salman Khan’s carefree driving style.
Aasif shared that during the late 1990s, when they were shooting for the film Bandhan (1998), Salman took him for a drive in his Maruti Esteem. What made the ride memorable was Salman’s relaxed approach to the rules of the road, as he casually drove on both the footpath and the road. Aasif, concerned about their safety, warned Salman, saying, “Maine kaha Salman, pakde jayenge” (I told Salman we would get caught). Salman, unfazed, reassured Aasif, replying, “Pakde jayenge toh yaar Salman Khan hain, ghabrao mat” (Even if we get caught, you are with Salman Khan, so don’t worry).
As fate would have it, they were indeed stopped by traffic cops. However, to their surprise, the officer didn’t recognize Salman at all! Salman, visibly taken aback, said, “Isne toh pehchana nahi” (He didn’t recognize me). Aasif humorously suggested that Salman take off his shirt, in reference to his famous bare-chested appearances, hoping it might help the cop recognize him.
In light of recent threats following the murder of Baba Siddique, a senior NCP leader, Salman Khan’s security has been significantly heightened. The Mumbai Police have assigned Y-plus security to the actor, meaning he is now escorted by an armed police officer at all times. An SRPF (Special Reserve Police Force) team has been stationed outside his residences in Bandra and Panvel, and a police escort vehicle accompanies him wherever he goes.
Salman Khan is gearing up for his next big project, Sikandar, directed by AR Murugadoss. Fans are eagerly waiting to see the superstar on screen once again.
