Abhishek Bachchan Feels Grateful For Being Compared With His Mother Jaya Bachchan

Abhishek Bachchan has been receiving widespread acclaim for his role in Shoojit Sircar’s I Want To Talk. While fans have drawn comparisons to his father Amitabh Bachchan’s performance in Piku, Shoojit Sircar sees shades of Jaya Bachchan in Abhishek’s portrayal.

In an interview, the filmmaker praised Abhishek’s nuanced performance, saying, “Abhishek steals your heart in this film. I saw a lot of Jayaji in his performance. Her warmth and charm reflect in his character. I even saw shades of her work in a Satyajit Ray film, where she stood near a wall and stared—those stares are in Abhishek’s eyes too.”

Abhishek Bachchan expressed his gratitude for the comparison to his mother Jaya Bachchan. “For 25 years, people have referenced my father’s amazing work, but very few speak about my beautiful mother,” he said. Reflecting on Shoojit’s observation, he added, “She will be very happy. She always reminds me, ‘You’re my son too.’ I’m not worthy of being spoken about in the same sentence as these great actors.”

Abhishek’s portrayal in I Want To Talk has sparked conversations about his evolution as an actor, with audiences and critics alike applauding his depth and emotional range. By channeling the subtlety and grace reminiscent of Jaya Bachchan, Abhishek has added another memorable performance to his career.
