According to reports, Shoojit Sircar would be directing Abhishek Bachchan in his upcoming film. Sardar Udham, starring Vicky Kaushal, was his last film to be directed.
Following the great success of his period biopic Sardar Udham, filmmaker Shoojit Sircar is about to embark on his next project. This movie will be his first project with Abhishek Bachchan. Although the project’s specifics remain unknown, it will be released in theatres the following year.
Hoojit and Abhishek work together
Considering that Shoojit has helmed several films with Abhishek’s father, seasoned actor Amitabh Bachchan, it could be intriguing to watch their potential partnership. It’s interesting to note that Amitabh featured in Shoojit’s as-yet-unreleased directorial debut, Shoebite, but the movie hasn’t been released due of a dispute with the studio.
After that, Amitabh acted in the 2015 comedy Piku directed by Shoojit, which also starred Deepika Padukone and Irrfan Khan. In the movie, Amitabh portrayed a cantankerous 70-year-old who was suffering from severe constipation. In addition, Shoojit served as creative director and producer for Aniruddha Roy Chowdhury’s 2016 courtroom drama Pink, in which Amitabh played a lawyer defending the personas of Andrea Tariang, Kriti Kulhari, and Taapsee Pannu. In 2020, Shoojit directed the comedy Gulabo Sitabo, starring Amitabh and Ayushmann Khurrana. The film was released straight on Prime Video India amid the theatre closure caused by the pandemic.
The next project for Abhishek
Last year, Abhishek Bachchan starred in R Balki’s Ghoomer as an alcoholic cricket coach. He starred in films with Shabana Azmi, Angad Bedi, and Saiyami Kher, among others. He’ll next be seen alongside his adored Ludo co-star Inayat Verma in an as-yet-untitled dancing dramedy directed by Remo D’Souza.
Joining forces with Shoojit would be a significant obstacle for Abhishek, as he has already collaborated with his renowned father. “I was raised in a home where the father gave seventeen golden jubilees in a row, four of them in a month, or three were already playing and three were about to be released,” the actor said to PTI last year. Following the huge success of my first movie, Dhoom, Adi (Aditya) Chopra hosted this huge celebration party. My dad answered the door when I came home, and I had the impression that I had arrived. It was Amitabh Bachchan, and I was devastated.”
