Adipurush Dialogues Modified: Public Pressure Leads to Changes, ‘Jalegi Tere Baap Ki’ Transformed to ‘Jalegi Bhi Teri Lanka

The aggressive dialogue in the movie Adipurush has been changed days after it debuted.According to insiders, the revised version of the film is currently playing in theatres.

Some of the dialogue in the movie, which was based on the Hindu epic Ramayana, offended a segment of the film’s core audience.

It was claimed that some of Manoj Muntashir’s lyrics had a commonplace tone and failed  to honour the sacredness of the original text.

The Central Board of Film Certification, which had previously granted Adipurush a U certificate, authorised the changes on June 19.

Adipurush was recertified on June 19 after being initially cleared on June 12 according to the official CBFC website.

The original lines and their updated counterparts are listed below:

Here is a list of the old dialogues and their modified version as per Indian Express:

  • “Tu andar kaise ghusa… tu jaanta bhi hai kaun hoon main”, has been changed to, “Tum andar kaise ghuse… tum jaante bhi ho kaun hoon main”.
  • “Kapda tere baap ka… toh jalegi bhi tere baap ki”, has been replaced by, “Kapda teri Lanka ka… toh jalegi bhi teri Lanka”.
  • “Jo hamari behno… unki Lanka laga denge”, is now, “Jo hamari behno… unki Lanka mein aag laga denge”.
  • “Mere ek sapole ne tumhare iss sheshnaag ko lamba kar diya… bhara pada hai”, has been changed to, “Mere ek sapole ne tumhare iss sheshnaag ko samapt kar diya… bhara pada hai”.

A day after the release of “Adipurush,” Muntashir was asked about the dialogues and responded that he had grown up hearing many versions of the Ramayana told in everyday language. “It is not a mistake. The dialogue for Bajrang Bali and all the characters was written with a great deal of care and consideration. We have kept it straightforward since, if there are numerous characters in a movie, they cannot all speak the same language. There must be some sort of distraction or discord, he continued.

Prabhas portrays Raghav, who is modelled after Rama, in Om Raut’s rendition of the Ramayana, “Adipurush,” while Kriti Sanon plays Janaki, who is modelled after Sita, Saif Ali Khan portrays Lankesh, who is modeled after Ravana, Sunny Singh is Lakshman, and Devdutta Nage is modelled by Bajrang. On June 16, the movie has been released on theatres.
