Despite the widespread acclaim for her performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s period drama series Heeramandi, where she starred alongside Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, and others, Bollywood actress Aditi Rao Hydari has revealed a surprising truth: she’s still awaiting her next acting project.
In a recent interview, Aditi shed light on the ongoing difficulties women encounter within the entertainment industry, noting that the significant appreciation she received for her role hasn’t yet led to new work opportunities.
During their chat, Aditi Rao Hydari and Lilly Singh discussed the success of Bhansali’s Heeramandi. The interviewer observed that female-centric stories, even when successful, are often viewed as anomalies rather than setting a new standard.
Aditi Rao Hydari fully resonated with this sentiment, affirming, “It is, yes. You are absolutely correct.” She then emphasized that despite Heeramandi’s success, she has yet to sign another film or show. “For example, after Heeramandi, it was wonderful. I got so much love, so much appreciation. So much everything. Have I signed my next show/film? No. I haven’t. I’m still waiting.” She concluded, “I got a lot from it. But yeah, I am still waiting.”
Is any filmmaker listening?
