Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan are set to reunite on screen for an eagerly anticipated thriller helmed by the renowned director Priyadarshan. While filming has yet to commence, the project is already generating significant buzz, especially with the recent revelation of its title.
A leading publication has confirmed that the film will be named Haiwaan, a Hindi word meaning “beast”. A source close to the production shared, “The team felt this describes their subject the best, and conveys exactly how Priyadarshan sees it- as an edge-of-the-seat thriller. There were other titles in contention, but this one clicked unanimously, given the characters the lead actors play.”
According to an entertainment portal, this upcoming collaboration is a Hindi remake of the 2016 Malayalam film Oppam, which originally featured Mohanlal. Interestingly, a recent report by the portal indicates that Akshay Kumar will take on the role of the villain in this adaptation.
It was previously reported on the excitement of both Akshay and Saif upon reading the script. Elaborating on the film’s nature, the source added, “It’s a nail-biting and entertaining thriller film. Helmed by Priyadarshan, it will leave the audiences on the edge of their seats!”
The film is slated to begin production in August of this year, with a planned release in 2026.
