The Pakistani cricket team had a pretty disappointing run in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 as the team which was considered as one of the strongest contenders of the trophy at the start of the tournament didn’t even enter the semi-finals.

What hurt the Pakistani cricket fans more was the defeat against Afghanistan and their main players including Babar Azam were not able to make any impact in the tournament.

Babar Azam, the number one ODI batter under whose captaincy Pakistan played in the ICC ODI World Cup 2023 has stepped down from captaincy from all the three formats of the game and many of his fans are left dejected after he made this announcement on X.

Babar Azam made a post on his social media handles in which he announced his decision to leave captaincy and he also stated that he will continue to serve the nation as a player in all the formats.

The Pakistan Cricket Board has announced the names of the players who will replace Babar Azam, while Shaheen Shah Afridi will lead in T20Is, Shan Masood has been chosen as the test skipper.

What do you think? Will quitting captaincy be beneficial for Babar Azam?
