AI to create more job options than it destroys says IBM India

Even though work opportunities have declined in some fields, like , Sandip Patel of IBM India says AI will create more jobs than it takes away. He stressed how important it was to learn new skills and how important it was to have tech talent to improve AI.

Some jobs are in danger because of creative artificial intelligence (AI), but it was said that AI will create more jobs than it takes away. When he talked to the reporters, Sandip Patel, Managing Director, IBM India/South Asia, said that he has seen technology and many new ideas change over the years.

“I am sure that AI will create more jobs than it destroys,” he said. When people think about starting a new job, they usually feel very scared. As an example, when the Internet worked properly and web publishing and other web-enabled things became available, they caused job losses in some areas, such as newspaper writing.

But he also said that it created whole new types of jobs, like web design, data science, digital marketing, and web publishing, which now employ millions of people.

“One of the things we’ve been very clear about and keep saying is that re-skilling will be very important,” Patel told the crowd.

In India, 46% of companies are teaching or retraining their workers to work with automation and AI tools. However, there is still a lot more that can be done.

He said, “This is something that the government clearly sees.”

Half of the people who work for the company say they are excited to use new AI and automation tools.

“Now the question is how to teach a huge group of people?” Not everyone can code, build AI, or do other great things. He said, “You have to learn how to use these technologies as they change.”

Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for IT and Skill Development, says that India’s success in AI is not due to chip-driven computing power but to talent in the field.

“AI faces a much bigger problem with talent. Universities need to keep giving out master’s and PhD degrees in AI. Skill is something that keeps me up at night. “The infrastructure problems will be fixed very quickly,” he said in December at an event.

He stressed that the tech industry, universities, and governments around the world need to work together to shape the next generation of people who will be able to do jobs related to AI.

Conclusion

Sandip Patel, the Managing Director of IBM India, thinks that AI will create more jobs than it takes away. He says that the growth of web marketing and web design are examples of new types of jobs. Up to now, 46% of Indian companies have trained or retrained workers to use robotics and AI tools. More needs to be done, though. Half of the workers are excited to use the new AI and robotic tools. Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for IT and Skill Development, thinks that India’s growth in AI will depend on its tech talent more than on chip-driven computing power. He wants the tech industry and universities around the world to work with governments to plan how people will be trained for jobs related to AI in the future.
