Alert in Tamil Nadu: Unseasonal Rain Puts Mumbai on High Weather Alert

Due to a low-pressure system that had formed in the Arabian Sea, Mumbai saw unseasonal rainfall on Tuesday evening and Wednesday morning, according to the Met Office. The city’s air quality was also enhanced by light rains, which made breathing easier for residents.

The mid-winter humidity increased since the sky had been cloudy since the afternoon. According to a civic official, showers were observed in Goregaon, Malad Borivali, Andheri, Jogeshwari, and a few other locations.

Light rain was also reported in several areas of the nearby districts of Palghar, Thane, and Raigad late in the evening. Rain is expected in Tamil Nadu. Meanwhile, rain has been falling on Chennai since Monday morning, causing waterlogging in a number of districts.

According to the Met Office, “A cyclonic circulation lies over the Southeast and adjoining east-central Arabian and a trough runs from this cyclonic circulation to south Gujarat at lower tropospheric levels.” The meteorological agency stated that throughout the following three days, mild to moderate rainfall was expected across Tamil Nadu, Kerala, coastal Karnataka, and the Lakshadweep islands due to the impact of such systems.
