Google has selected Srinivas Reddy to serve as its new public policy chief for India, as tech companies face greater anti-trust challenges. Earlier, former Googler Archana Gulati held this position, but resigned last year.
Reddy wrote on LinkedIn about his new role on Wednesday, “He has long admired Google’s commitment to innovation and its mission to organize the world’s information and make it accessible and useful.” Wrote, “India’s growing population and quick technology adoption could make it a digital economy leader.
Reddy believes Google must address issues including a fair digital transition, customer data security, and talent availability to keep India at the forefront of tech innovation. He believes Google has a unique opportunity to solve these problems and help India reach its digital potential.
Before joining Google, Reddy was Microsoft’s Asia Pacific, Middle East, and Africa chief of XR regulatory affairs for two years. He was senior director of engineering for mixed reality (devices and technology) at the company. After three and a half years as Apple’s regulatory affairs chief in India, he oversaw Ericsson’s government and industry relations for five years.
