Aly Goni has broken his silence after being subjected to widespread online criticism for jokingly calling his girlfriend Jasmin Bhasin “chapri” on social media. The remark, which was part of a light-hearted exchange between the couple, triggered backlash among fans who felt the joke crossed a line.
Amid the growing controversy, Aly recently took to Instagram to respond in his signature humorous tone. Reposting a headline from a paparazzi account that read, “Jasly calls each other chhapri, internet thrashes them for their ‘chhapri’ game, says ‘It’s not funny’,” Aly tagged Jasmin and responded with, “It’s not funny,” accompanied by multiple laughing emojis. Jasmin also joined in on the banter, re-sharing the post on her own stories and adding, “But it was supposed to be funny”.

The playful jabs between the couple had originally begun when Aly Goni shared an old photo of Jasmin Bhasin wearing a white crop top and jeans. With the image, he quipped, “Kya Jasmin chapri hai,” followed by a laughing emoji. In response, Jasmin posted a sketch of Aly with the caption, “Kya Aly chapri hai,” turning the banter around.
However, not all fans found the exchange amusing. Many took to Reddit to express their disappointment, calling out Aly Goni for what they perceived as a disrespectful remark directed at his partner. Some users accused him of normalizing derogatory language in relationships, while others went so far as to label him a “red flag”.
Despite the social media uproar, Aly and Jasmin appear to be taking the criticism in stride, sticking to their fun-loving equation while leaving it up to the fans to interpret the humor behind their jokes.
