On Monday, April 8, the Mumbai premiere of “Amar Singh Chamkila,” the Imtiaz Ali-directed biography of the deceased Punjabi musician Amar Singh Chamkila, which stars actor Diljit Dosanjh in the lead role, took place. Many of the people who saw the movie after its debut praised its soundtrack and narrative. The Netflix movie, according to director Onir, is “gorgeous” and a “celebration of a life that is precious.”
Onir declared, “It’s a really beautiful movie. At the end, it hits you. I find the movie to be really moving. It is a celebration of a life that is valuable and that persevered in the face of great difficulty.”
At the ‘Amar Singh Chamkila’ screening were actors Mrunal Thakur, Avneet Kaur, Shweta Basu Prasad, Ishwak Singh, and Bhuvan Bam. Ishwak, well-known for his part in the “Pataal Lok” Prime Video series, gave his thoughts on the film as he left the cinema. “It needs to be on everyone’s must-watch list,” he declared. It’s a really unique movie. It’s deeply entrenched, poignant, and inspirational. It also has the feistiness and wildness of Imtiaz Ali. It tastes of Punjab and is really colourful. In conclusion, it provides a spiritual experience.”
Amar Singh Chamkila is something that actor Shweta Basu Prasad says she will “recommend” to others. “It was like a live concert film,” she continued. I simply have a much deeper understanding of Amr Singh Chamkila. People should see it, in my opinion, because of Diljit, Imtiaz Sir, and the soundtrack. It’s really expertly constructed.
Sheeba Chadha, an actor, expressed her opinions about the film by saying, “Good music.” It’s always a pleasure to see Diljit. Diljit, AR Rahman, and Imtiaz make quite the team.”
Following the movie, Imtiaz Ali was met with enthusiastic ovation from the crowd, for which he bent to express his gratitude.
In Punjab, Amar Singh Chamkila rose to fame in the 1980s thanks to his songs. However, his celebrity was short-lived when, at the age of 27, he was killed in Punjab.
On April 12, “Amar Singh Chamkila” will make its Netflix debut.
