Diljit Dosanjh and Parineeti Chopra starrer Amar Singh Chamkila which is based on the life of Punjabi singer Amar Singh Chamkila has made people once again talk about the famous singer who was shot dead at the age of 27 yrs.
Parineeti has played the role of Chamkila’s second wife Amarjot with whom he had a son – Jaiman Chamkila. Gurmail Kaur was Chamkila’s first wife and with her, Chamkila had two daughters – Amandeep Kaur and Kamaldeep Kaur.
In 2023, Chamkila and Amarjot’s son Jaiman gave an interview in which he revealed that he is in touch with Chamkila’s first wife and his two stepsisters as well.
Jaiman said, “I am in touch with Chamkila’s first family. I have two sisters from his first wife, Amandeep and Kamaldeep. The older is married and has two kids, and Kamal is getting married this year (2023).”
He further added, “When I go meet her, she greets me well but that’s it. From the beginning, it’s been this way. It is not her fault nor our (the children) fault. Sometimes we speak and she would say that if your father was around, we wouldn’t be in such state. He worked really hard, people’s evil eyes impacted him, he had too many enemies. I have my sisters as well, we try to share our pain as much as we can.”
Jaiman is also a singer himself and every year on their father’s death anniversary, Jaiman and his stepsisters organize a mela in the honour of their father for the purpose of celebrating Amar Singh Chamkila’s music.
