Amazon India opens its first-ever floating store on Srinagar’s Dal Lake

Amazon India has launched its first-ever floating store on Srinagar’s Dal Lake, focusing on “I Have Space” last-mile delivery. Murtaza Khan Kashi, owner of houseboat Selec Town, will handle daily package delivery to customers’ houseboats. The initiative, which began in 2015, aims to improve delivery services, increase consumer convenience, strengthen connections with neighborhood businesses, and continue its growth in the Indian market.

With the launch of its first-ever floating store on Srinagar, Kashmir’s tranquil Dal Lake, Amazon India has made a momentous statement as part of its ground-breaking “I Have Space” last-mile delivery effort. To provide a distinctive and seamless shopping experience, Murtaza Khan Kashi, the owner of the houseboat Selec Town, has been given the task of daily package delivery to customers’ houseboats as part of the innovative idea.

Director of Amazon Logistics in India, Karuna Shankar Pande, expressed optimism that this strategic choice will not only speed up and improve the dependability of delivery to clients in Srinagar but also provide new chances for small companies to prosper. The addition of the floating store is anticipated to strengthen Amazon’s regional distribution network even further while meeting the unique requirements of the gorgeous location.

The “I Have Space” (IHS) initiative was started in 2015 and has now expanded to include around 28,000 neighborhood and kirana partners in roughly 420 Indian towns and cities. With the help of this initiative, Amazon works closely with surrounding retailers and small companies to provide quick product delivery within a 2- to 4-kilometer radius.

Local partners that take part in the ‘I Have Space’ initiative have the benefit of receiving packages at their physical locations, which they then deliver to clients. In exchange, Amazon pays these partners according to how many successful package deliveries they make. The program’s extensive network, which boasts over 28,000 partners operating in more than 350 locations throughout India, demonstrates its enormous success.

Anyone who wants to participate in this revolutionary project may become an IHS partner because there is no cost involved. Partners need just pick up and transport packages to local places. The Amazon IHS store partner will successfully handle 20 to 30 package deliveries every day on average and will get a predetermined payment for each delivery that is done.

Amazon hopes to improve its delivery services, increase consumer convenience, fortify its links with neighborhood companies, and continue its relentless development in the burgeoning Indian market with the launch of the floating store on the mesmerizing Dal Lake. Amazon continues to be at the forefront of providing excellent consumer experiences while enabling neighborhood businesses on their growth journey via ongoing innovation and giving distinctive solutions like the floating shop.
