AMD executive vice president and chief technology officer Mark Papermaster unveiled it at SemiconIndia 2023 in Gujarat.

In Bengaluru, AMD will build its largest design center.

Before 2023, AMD’s new campus should open. The investment adds 3,000 engineering jobs by 2028.

AMD said Indian semiconductor industry policies encourage this investment.

Papermaster said, “From a handful of employees in 2001 to more than 6,500 today, AMD has grown its India footprint based on our local leadership and highly skilled talent pool.”

Ashwini Vaishnaw, Union Cabinet Minister for Railways, Telecommunications, Electronics, and IT, stated, “We welcome the AMD plan to expand its leading-edge R&D engineering operations in India.”

India’s many experienced semiconductor engineers and researchers will benefit, said Rajeev Chandrasekhar, Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship. The 500,000-square-foot Bangalore headquarters will bring AMD’s Bengaluru, Delhi, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, and Mumbai offices to 10.
