Ranbir Kapoor starrer Animal is on a roll as it is performing pretty well at the box-office and it is all set to become Ranbir Kapoor’s biggest movie in terms of box-office earnings. Directed by Sandeep Reddy Vanga, the movie also stars Rashmika Mandanna, Anil Kapoor, Shakti Kapoor and Bobby Deol in important roles.
Sandeep Reddy Vanga is known for his movie, Arjun Reddy and its Hindi remake, Kabir Singh which were termed as toxic and misogynistic movies by some people. While Animal is earning great, it is also getting slammed for being misogynistic and as the movie released, an old video started going viral in which Ranbir Kapoor stated that he is very cautious while selecting the roles and he doesn’t do roles which belittle society.
This video was shot before the release of Tu Jhooti Main Makkar in which Ranbir Kapoor worked with Shraddha Kapoor and it was directed by Luv Ranjan.
Anupama Chopra asked this question to Ranbir Kapoor, “You are doing a film with Luv Ranjan, who of course, is a massively successful director. But his films are really steeped in misogyny. Do you as an actor worry or think about the images or art you’re putting out there?”
In response, the actor stated, “I have not been a part of those films. I’m working with a director who, according to you, has made say a misogynistic film. But I’m quite conscious of the parts I do and that it’s not a part which is belittling society or something which I feel is unfair. I wouldn’t do it because understanding the position I’m in, I have to be conscious, I have to be aware. I have to represent certain value systems that I want to express. The film with Luv Ranjan is not that.”
