Amitabh Bachchan recently reminisced about his warm friendship with the late industrialist and philanthropist Ratan Tata on an episode of Kaun Banega Crorepati 16. During the conversation with guests Farah Khan and Boman Irani, Bachchan shared a memorable incident that highlighted Tata’s characteristic simplicity and humility.
Bachchan recounted that after attending an event together, Tata asked his friend for a ride home, explaining that he didn’t have a car with him. “One of my friends went to an event with him,” Bachchan recalled. “When the event was over, Tata asked him, ‘Can you drop me home? I just live behind your house.’” Both Khan and Irani reacted with surprise and admiration, with Bachchan adding, “Ratan Tata saying, ‘I don’t have a car’—it’s just unbelievable.”
Bachchan praised Tata’s down-to-earth nature, describing him as a figure of humility despite his remarkable achievements. Ratan Tata passed away on October 9 in Mumbai at the age of 86 due to age-related issues.
In terms of Bachchan’s current projects, he was last seen on screen in Vettaiyan alongside Rajinikanth.
