Beginning Thursday, the pre-recorded caller tune featuring Bollywood megastar Amitabh Bachchan’s voice, which served to caution citizens about cybercrime and fraud, will no longer be active. The government has made the decision to withdraw this message, which played each time a phone user initiated a call, effective today, as reported by a leading news channel.

According to the news outlet, citing a source, the message was part of a Central government campaign aimed at disseminating information about the increasing number of cyber fraud cases. Its withdrawal comes as the campaign has concluded.

Amitabh Bachchan had lent his voice to this initiative, designed to raise public awareness about cybercrime and to educate individuals on digital safety. The caller tune, played before calls connected, featured Bachchan advising listeners on common cyber threats such as phishing, various online scams, and identity theft.

“The campaign has come to an end, and therefore, the caller tune will be removed from today,” a source informed the news outlet.

Reports suggest that this decision also came after numerous users voiced their frustration, particularly in urgent situations where the mandatory caller tune caused delays in immediate call connection.
