Nikhil Nanda, a well-known industrialist and the son-in-law of Bollywood icon Amitabh Bachchan, has been named in a case of fraud and abetment to suicide, according to reports. The chairman and managing director of Escorts Kubota is now under investigation following a complaint filed in Uttar Pradesh’s Badaun district.
As per a report by a local news channel, the Dataganj Police registered the case against Nanda and multiple executives from a tractor company based on a court directive. The accused include the company’s Uttar Pradesh head, area manager, sales manager, a dealer from Shahjahanpur, and three other officials. The allegations revolve around the tragic death of a tractor agency owner who, according to the complaint, was driven to take his own life due to mounting pressure from the company.
The complaint was lodged by Gyanendra, a resident of Papad Hamzapur village, whose brother, Jitendra Singh, ran a tractor agency named Jai Kisan Traders in Dataganj. Singh had been managing the business alone after his partner, Lalla Babu, was imprisoned due to a family dispute. It was during this period that he allegedly faced intense pressure from the company officials, which ultimately led to the devastating incident.
According to Gyanendra, Nanda and his associates—identified as Ashish Baliyan (area manager), Sumit Raghav (sales manager), Dinesh Pant (UP head), Pankaj Bhaskar (financier collection officer), Amit Pant (sales manager), Neeraj Mehra (sales head), and Shishant Gupta (Shahjahanpur dealer)—had been coercing his brother to increase sales, adding to his distress.
The complaint further alleges that Jitendra was repeatedly threatened with the revocation of his dealership license and the auctioning of his property if sales targets were not met. Feeling trapped and overwhelmed, he reportedly confided in his family about the pressure he was facing before the tragic turn of events.
With the case now under official investigation, authorities are expected to examine the allegations closely and determine the course of action against the accused.
