An Actress Brings 9 People, Actor Brings 8: Farah Khan Condemns Entourage Culture In B-Town

The increasing cost of making movies has become a serious concern for producers and one of the reasons behind it are huge demands made by actors and actresses nowadays.

Earlier in an interview, the famous choreographer-director Farah Khan stated that nowadays actors and actresses demand 4 vanity vans for themselves- one is for personal use, second is for gym, third is for their staff and fourth is their food truck. She added that actors don’t start working until they get 4 vanity vans.

Now in a recent interview, Farah has talked about the increasing entourage cost as an actress comes with 9 people and an actor comes with 8 people. She said, “That is a waste of resources. Woh film mein dikhta nahi hai. Woh cost. Toh I think that needs to be controlled a bit. Producers pe bahut bhari padta hain.”

Farah Khan also talked about the positive and negative changes that have come over the years; she said,  “Bura change yeh hai ki pehle bahut zyada relationship pe chalti thi industry. Toh agar mujhe kuch chahiye hota tha toh main actor ko directly phone karti thi. Ab ye hoga ki pehle aap unke manager ke sub-manager ko milo. Phir woh manager milega, uske baad unki agency milegi. So it has become very clinical. Interpersonal relations thode kharab ho gaye”. (The negative change is that in the past, relationships played a big role in the industry. If I needed something, I could just call the actor directly. But now, it’s more formal. You have to go through layers of managers and agencies. So, it’s become very impersonal. Interpersonal relationships have suffered a bit).

We certainly agree with Farah Khan in regard to the increasing costs of moviemaking, what do you say?
