Welcome is one of the most successful franchises of Bollywood, till now two movies – Welcome and Welcome Back have been made under this franchise and both of them have performed superbly at the box-office.
While Akshay Kumar played the lead role in the first part, he was replaced by John Abraham in the second part but Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar played the same characters in both the movies. It won’t be wrong to say that Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar made the characters of Majnu and Uday bhai iconic and they also played an important role in the success of the movies.
Welcome 3 is also on the cards and as per the reports, Akshay Kumar will be back in the third part but what has made fans upset is the fact that Anil Kapoor has refused to be a part of the third installment. Nana Patekar followed Anil Kapoor’s path and he also denied working in the movie.
If the reports are to be believed, Anil Kapoor demanded fees of Rs. 18 crore for his role which was difficult for producer Firoz Nadiadwala to pay him. Anil feels that his character of Majnu bhai has played an important role in the movie’s success and the third part will also be a blockbuster so he should get a good amount for his role.
It is being said that Akshay Kumar also tried to resolve the matter but Anil Kapoor was not ready to budge from his demand and the producers have now roped in Sanjay Dutt and Arshad Warsi for the roles of Uday and Majnu.
Without Anil Kapoor and Nana Patekar, Welcome 3 would be incomplete, don’t you think so?
