The young Indian cricketer Sarfaraz Khan made his debut in the ongoing third test match which is being played at Rajkot and he justified his selection with a superb innings of 62 runs for which he played 66 deliveries and his innings included 9 fours and 1 six.
Sarfaraz Khan was looking in a great momentum but luck favored England as the young Indian cricketer had a mix-up with Ravindra Jadeja and got run out.
Sarfaraz Khan got his test cap from the legendary former Indian cricketer Anil Kumble who also got run out on his debut test match. Talking about Sarfaraz Khan’s innings and his dismissal, Kumble said that he may have passed his bad luck to the youngster.
Anil Kumble stated, “Yes, Sarfaraz was dominating the partnership but Jadeja, I thought, got into a shell and that sometimes creates a mindset where you are not clear about the decision-making. Maybe, that was one of the reasons and possibility I passed on my bad luck of my debut run-out to Sarfaraz!”
The former head coach of team India was quite impressed with the batting of Sarfaraz Khan as he said, “It never looked like it was his first Test innings. We all know about the talent he has and we have seen him dominate spin at the domestic level. But at the Test level, you need a completely different mindset and to have that approach and play that free-flowing innings was brilliant.”
He further added, “He was certainly tested by Mark Wood, but coming in and dominating the spinners was outstanding. And the way he batted – more than a run a ball with the kind of shot selection, he was very assured in his approach. After he took the bowlers on, the next ball was played on the backfoot just to manoeuvre that single and get off strike. Brilliant batting from Sarfaraz.”
India has posted a total of 445 in its first innings and now it is upto bowlers to take India in a strong position.
