While most people expected her signature soft and dreamy style, Anya Taylor-Joy surprised everyone by stepping out in a bold new look during her latest appearance.
The actor is currently on her first press tour of the year, promoting her upcoming film The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. In the movie, she takes on the role of Princess Peach, the well-known pink-clad character loved by fans of the Mario Kart games.
For her recent visit to The Today Show in New York City, Anya chose something completely different from her usual wardrobe. Known for wearing soft pastels and delicate outfits, she instead went for a bold leopard-print look—something rarely seen in her style choices.
Still, she managed to make it her own.
Her outfit came straight from Balmain’s latest collection, designed by Antonin Tron as part of his debut line for the brand. The ensemble was originally showcased at Balmain’s Fall 2026 show in Paris.
Anya wore a leopard-print midi skirt featuring one of the season’s standout trends—a fringed hem. The print itself had a slightly distorted, edgy look, giving the skirt a cool, grunge-inspired feel.
What really made the outfit stand out, though, was how she styled it. Instead of going all-out with the bold print, she kept the rest of the look simple. She paired the skirt with a cropped black halter-neck top and all-black accessories, letting the skirt be the main focus. This styling approach—keeping bold prints minimal and balanced with neutrals—helped tone down the overall look while still making a statement.
She completed the outfit with classic black mules and oval sunglasses. Her pale blonde hair was left open in soft, light curls, adding a relaxed and effortless touch.
In the end, this look showed a different side of Anya—one that embraces bold fashion while still staying true to her understated, elegant style.
