During his Coachella performance, singer AP Dhillon paid tribute to late rapper and Punjabi artist Sidhu Moosewala. Dhillon honoured Sidhu throughout his performance, as did rapper and singer Shinda Kahlon. He mocked trolls who were attacking him for smashing his guitar during his performance by sharing images of the same on Instagram.
On April 17, the Canadian musician of Indian descent posted images to his official Instagram account. The slogan “Justice for Sidhu Moosewala” blinked on the screen as Dhillon and Shinda took the stage to sing their hit song “Brown Munde.”
For those who don’t know, Sidhu Moosewala was killed in Mansa a few days before turning 29. On May 29, 2022, during the day, he was shot and died. Countless admirers lamented his passing and are still fighting for justice.
In the meantime, Coachella performance star AP Dhillon posted a video of himself smashing his guitar live. Many online users shared similar criticisms of him under the video, critiquing his actions.
In response to the criticism, AP captioned one of his most recent posts with the words, “The media is controlled, and I’m out of control.”
Coachella’s official social media account also posted excerpts from AP’s performance. “It’s a smash @ap.dhillxn,” the caption said.
Songs like “Excuses,” “Brown Munde,” “Spaceship,” “Arrogant,” “With You,” and “Summer High” are among AP Dhillon’s most well-known compositions.
