YouTube and Spotify will not develop new apps for Apple’s Vision Pro headset and will not support their iPad app. Web browser users can still use Spotify. Apple markets the gadget for video, games, and entertainment.
YouTube announced Thursday that it won’t produce a Vision Pro app. At least for now, the iPad app won’t work. YouTube recommends viewing Vision Pro material on a web browser.
“YouTube users will be able to use YouTube in Safari on the Vision Pro at launch,” it said.
Spotify is also omitting a Vision Pro OS app. The iPad won’t operate with their app either. Spotify works in a web browser. The Vision Pro won’t include Netflix, Spotify, or YouTube when it comes on Feb. 2. Apple touts the tablet for video, games, and entertainment.
Apple said YouTube had “no further plans to share at this time.” While it may support the Vision Pro in the future.
Apple’s music and podcast apps will compete with Spotify on the Vision Pro. However, Netflix, Spotify, and YouTube are lacking at launch.
