There is no denying the fact that cricket is the most popular sport of India but the number of football fans is also huge and now people are getting more and more attracted towards football as well.
Emiliano Martinez, the Argentinean star goalkeeper, was left surprised by the warm welcome that he got by Indian football fans at the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport, Kolkata as he reached India on Monday for a three day tour. The 30 years old goalkeeper played an important role in Argentina’s 2022 World Cup win in Doha which they won under the captaincy of Lionel Messi and he also created a controversy by mocking the French footballer, Kylian Mbappe.
After landing in India, Emiliano Martinez said to media, “I am really excited, feeling great. It was a dream (coming to India). I had promised to come to India, I am happy to be here. The people of Kolkata are football mad. I understand that. So many supporters have come here. This shows how much they love football. I am looking forward to going to Mohun Bagan club. I didn’t expect to get so much support when I came to Kolkata.”
Emiliano Martinez is on a three day tour to Kolkata during which he will attend some events including the football match between Mohun Bagan All Stars and Kolkata Police All Stars and he will be leaving Kolkata on July 6 early morning.
