According to reports on Monday, the Army began looking into the three civilian killings that were reported in Poonch, Jammu, and Kashmir, and they included a Brigadier-level official in their investigation.
According to insiders, the inquiry will also look at repeated instances of Army troops dying in terrorist assaults that occur within the officer’s purview.
The operation is taking place against the backdrop of heightened counterterrorism measures in the area, which were prompted by a terrorist ambush on an Army convoy that resulted in the deaths of four troops just last week.
Hours after the terrorist attack on Army vehicles, surveillance flights and enhanced ground combing operations were launched in the area, particularly in the woodland belt of Dera Ki Gali and Bafliyaz.
Four jawans were killed and two others injured when heavily armed terrorists attacked two Army trucks on Thursday near Dhatyar Morh in the Poonch district. Then, on Friday, in the Baffliaz neighborhood of Poonch, three citizens were discovered dead inexplicably.
