Arshad Warsi, soon to play Bandaa Singh Chaudhary in his upcoming project, recently shared his views on the evolving nature of stardom in an interview. Reflecting on the influence of social media, Warsi discussed how the essence of stardom has shifted, calling it an “illusion” in today’s age.
During the conversation, Arshad Warsi suggested that stardom has become a “manufactured product” in the social media era, losing its authenticity. Describing stardom as an illusion today, he expressed that recognition is often based more on follower counts than on a genuine connection with audiences or substantial achievements.
He said, “Stardom today is a manufactured product. It’s an illusion. It’s created and manufactured stuff”.
Arshad Warsi further elaborated on what he considers authentic stardom, naming legendary actors such as Dilip Kumar, Rajesh Khanna, Amitabh Bachchan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Salman Khan. He emphasized that these actors represent true stardom, which remains impactful without the need for social media validation.
“They don’t need social media for anybody to know that these people are stars – I think that is stardom,” he commented, distinguishing enduring fame from social media-driven popularity.
