Artist Madhumita Dey has definitely become an unparalleled name in the art industry. Right from winning a National Prize from Kala Uday society to being one of the toppers at her Master’s University this young artist is gaining a lot of attention for the right reasons for her artistic and photography skills.
Madhumita Dey has been a visual arts teacher for about over half a decade in one of the top schools of Delhi and is a pass out from the prestigious College of Art, University of Delhi which has produced some of the finest artists in the country.
Her work has majorly revolved around nature, women, portraits, indian art and culture etc. but she has been extending her reach via her canvas.
Talking about her art exhibition, she said she got a great response and she was so happy to see the enthusiasm in the audience. She is also grateful to a few artists with whom she collaborated with.
Madhumita has travelled to Indore for her post graduation and it just goes to show that where there is a will to learn there will be a way.
Apart from this Madhumita has participated in various exhibitions Nationally &
Internationally like in Malaysia, Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur,Chandigarh, Indore, Andhra Pradesh, Khajuraho. Her hardwork has been recognised and selected in many reputed art competitions and exhibitions.
She said the most special moment was when an Australian couple kept talking about her artwork at the India Habitat Centre exhibition and eventually ended up buying it too. She said it always feels special when your work is appreciated.
The young artist also said that she credits her parents Mrs. Shobha Dey and Mr. Tapan Dey for backing her talent and giving her all the freedom to follow her dreams.
When quizzed about her inspiration, she says that the moment I step out of my room i see inspiration in everything. Being a teacher i feel blessed to meet different kids everyday and i get to understand different perspectives. If you see around there is a lot to see and observe.
India is a beautiful and diverse country and most of my artwork comes from either observation or imagination. She says i believe that art comes from life and not the other way around.
On being asked of the further plans, she said that it’s been on her mind that her artwork should feature at India Art Fair and she’s been trying to make something interesting post which she’ll get in touch with art galleries.
On being quizzed on her inspiration she said that she visited the Van Gogh 360 art event and his work was really a treat to watch and of course Vijender Sharma’s work has also inspired her.
