As Padmaavat Re-Releases Today, Ranveer Singh TalksAbout His Character Of Khilji

As Padmaavat returns to theaters, Ranveer Singh revisited the intense journey of portraying Alauddin Khilji, one of his most memorable and challenging roles. The Singham Again actor shared insights into the creative process that shaped his performance, revealing that he consciously pushed the character into an even darker and more extreme space to enhance its depth.

Discussing his approach, Ranveer emphasized the importance of staying true to the script, calling it his “textbook.” He explained that he relied heavily on the vision set by director Sanjay Leela Bhansali and writer Prakash Kapadia, ensuring his portrayal remained aligned with their storytelling. He also admitted to wanting to take Khilji’s menacing persona even further, adding, “I wanted to make him darker and more of an extremist.”

Ranveer Singh credited Bhansali for playing a pivotal role in shaping his performance, sharing that the director’s meticulous guidance allowed him to push beyond the boundaries of the script. “Mr. Bhansali really molded me this time,” he noted, acknowledging how the filmmaker’s direction helped him fully embody the ruthless and complex nature of Khilji.

With Padmaavat re-releasing, audiences once again have the chance to witness Ranveer’s transformation into one of Bollywood’s most infamous antagonists, a role that continues to be celebrated for its intensity and depth.
