The Indian Premier League started in 2008 and over the years, it has become one of the biggest sports leagues of the world. However, the IPL is not just about playing cricket, it is also about promotional shoots, parties, events, etc. and Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin feels that the IPL has grown so much that sometimes cricket takes a backseat.

During a podcast, R Ashwin stated, “As a youngster coming into the IPL, I was only looking to learn from the big stars, I did not think about how the IPL would look 10 years down the line. I can say that, having been in the IPL for so many seasons, the IPL is huge. Sometimes I wonder if IPL is even cricket, because sport takes a backstage (during the tournament). It’s so huge. We do end up practising in advertisement shoots and sets! That’s where the IPL has gotten to.”

R Ashwin is a part of the IPL team Rajasthan Royals and as of now, RR has won both the matches that it has played till now and is sitting at the second position in the points table after CSK.

Do you also feel the same as R Ashwin?
