For the first time in her three-decade career, Kajol will be seen donning the uniform of a cop in the upcoming Netflix film Do Patti. Co-starring Kriti Sanon, this marks a significant shift in Kajol’s filmography.
Interestingly, her husband Ajay Devgn is no stranger to playing a policeman, most notably in his popular Singham franchise. Singham Again is set to release on November 1, just a week after Do Patti, making it a timely comparison.
At the trailer launch of Do Patti in Mumbai, Kajol revealed that she didn’t seek any tips from her husband for her role. When asked if her character could have its own spin-off or even a cop universe, Kajol admitted she wasn’t sure but found the idea intriguing. “I’ve no clue if there can be a cop universe featuring my character. I’ve to ask Kanika [Dhillon], but I love the idea of playing a cop,” she said.
Speaking about the experience of playing a cop, Kajol expressed how much she enjoyed it. “When you wear a uniform onscreen, there’s a certain stature and kadakness that comes in your posture, even though you know the uniform isn’t actually yours. I loved playing a cop, and I would love to do it again,” she added.
Despite Ajay Devgn’s larger-than-life portrayal of Singham on screen, Kajol humorously claimed that she is the true authority at home. “Maine pehle bhi kahaan hai aur har stage pe kahaan hai ki asli Singham main hoon,” she joked, earning laughter from the audience.
With both Do Patti and Singham Again set to release within days of each other, fans are eagerly awaiting to see Kajol and Ajay Devgn take on the roles of police officers in their respective films.
