The Pakistani cricket team will be starting the new cycle of the World Test Championship by playing a two-match test series in Sri Lanka starting July 16. Pakistani fans are quite hopeful that the Pakistani team will perform better than the last WTC cycle as their home season was extremely pathetic, Pakistan played 9 test matches at home, won just one which was against Sri Lanka and lost 8 which included the series against England and Australia.
Babar Azam attended a press conference in which he talked about many things but there was a reporter who talked about poor performance of Pakistan in the last WTC cycle and asked whether he would leave captaincy if Pakistan gets defeated by Sri Lanka in the upcoming series. The reporter asked, “In last one year, we won only one match in nine Tests, which was against Sri Lanka. Pakistan isn’t able to win. I hope we win in Sri Lanka, but if we lose, will you think about handing captaincy to someone else? Isn’t it possible that your captaincy is at fault if we aren’t able to win?”
Babar Azam gave a perfect response as he stated, “If you talk about the past, we didn’t play good cricket, that’s why we didn’t win. We were inexperienced because of multiple injuries. Until you get 20 wickets, you won’t win. And we drew the series there, didn’t lose. This time, we will try to win. As far as captaincy is concerned, I always give my best. It’s better if you ask this question to the PCB, because they have to take this decision.”
Which team do you think has a better chance to win the series – Pakistan or Sri Lanka?
