The Pakistani cricket team registered their second consecutive victory in the ongoing ICC ODI World Cup 2023 as they defeated the Sri Lankan cricket team in a thrilling contest which was played yesterday at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad.
Sri Lanka decided to bat first after winning the toss and they put up a huge score of 344/9 with the help of brilliant knocks by Kusal Mendis (122) and Sadeera Samarawickrama (108). The chase was never going to be easy but Pakistani players also batted superbly and chased the target successfully in 48.2 overs with 6 wickets in hand. The Pakistani batter Abdullah Shafique (113 runs) batted brilliantly and it was Muhammad Rizwan (131 runs not out) who ensured that his team went home as the winner.
After the match, Babar Azam made a lovely gesture towards the Hyderabad ground staff for all the hard work that they have done.
He gifted the Pakistani jersey to the head of the ground staff and the video was posted on the official Instagram account of the ICC with the caption, “A fabulous gesture from Babar Azam to the Hyderabad ground staff”.
Babar Azam also got clicked with the ground staff and gave them a memory to cherish.
